Forward-facing spikes on head, mono-eye, sharp teeth, spiky rib cage, broad shoulders featuring sharp caterpillar tracks, a gigantic cannon as its main weapon, large blade, claws and large legs with a pair of spikes on the shin, all which are testaments to Shockwave's fearsome image in opinion, ^^ and all of them are very nicely realized on this action figure. ^^ The mono-eye and large cannon are iconic design features of Shockwave no doubt, but I really like the rear caterpillar blocks that form his shoulders. ^^ It's very clever using that tank component's polygonal shape in the transformation sequence to give Shockwave a broad-chested look, and as mentioned before, those sharp rigid track pattern on the caterpillars really add a lot of points to Shockwave's look. ^^

On the other hand, referring to the transformation design of this action figure, a lot of its components are actually hollow. ^^; The back of the legs store the thighs in tank mode, so when they are expanded, the hollowness of that area is exposed. The entire body module is hollow as well, with the rib cage holding the two shoulder blocks and the neck area to form the body, which is "broad-chested". XD Many Transformers figures incorporate such transformation design actually, and it's pretty well done on Shockwave I think. The hollowness doesn't affect the look in any way. The rib cage itself is a very fierce-looking design element, so I don't suppose anyone would really want to nitpick on what's behind it. ^^; The hollowness behind the legs is very obvious, but it gives the knee a significant level of "added" articulation range as well, which will be shown in the next posting. ^^
