Transformers Prime Deluxe Class Cliffjumper Part 2

The big red machine... I mean muscle car

More images of Transformers Prime's "First Edition" Deluxe Class Cliffjumper in vehicle mode after the previous posting. ^^

Closeups on the details:

The windshield and windows are made of clear blue plastic parts, and there's some room inside the car to mimic the driver and passenger seats it seems, even though they are not part of the transformation at all.

Bottom view of the car:

A fairly decent-sized car Cliffjumper is. You can see the comparison of the figure with my palm in the image above. ^^

Total length of the car is 13cm.

Cliffjumper's signature bull horns on the hold are made of soft plastic, so they are completely harmless. ^^

The cool feature of this figure that can be observed immediately even before taking it out of the box is the bright red color scheme. ^^ It's very eye-catching indeed. ^^ Granted that it's Cliffjumper's character color, the giant hood of the vehicle mode helps to emphasize that as well. A large retro-style American muscle car in red, no hot-blooded male would dislike that I think. XD The pointy bull horns in front of the hood are really icing on the cake. ^^

Apart from the bright red color scheme, the details of the grille and wheels are very impressive design features of the vehicle mode as well. As a matter of fact, the entire front half of the car is my favorite part of Cliffjumper's vehicle mode design. Even though the splits and lines between transformable parts can be seen quite clearly on the hood, it still has a very cohesive feel to it. ^^ It's hard to imagine that this component will eventually split up to form three different components in robot mode. ^^ In this scale, that's brilliant engineering right there. ^^

On the other hand, the huge four way split on the roof isn't the nicest thing to see on the vehicle mode. ^^; There's not much the figure can do actually, since the splits are for very important components in robot mode. It's just very unfortunate that the lines are so obvious on the roof. ^^;

Another issue I have with the vehicle mode is inconsistent color distribution. The only color Cliffjumper needs is red, but the figure was given two shades of red instead, which can be clearly observed from the roof and tail. I have no idea why this is necessary, since I don't recall Cliffjumper having visibly different shades of red in the TV series, however short his appearance was. ^^; The color variation is not as bad in robot mode as you'll see in another posting, since the color is distributed between robot parts. In vehicle mode however, bright red roof versus dark red trunk doesn't look good in my opinion. ^^;

Comparison with another red Transformers car in my collection - Transformers United Rodimus Prime: ^^

Comparison with Legion Class Cyberverse Arcee:

This would be the more realistic scale comparison of the two vehicles I think. Arcee in Deluxe Class would look overly huge in vehicle mode when compared to Cliffjumper, even though technically they would be of the same product series. ^^;

Then again, after transformation ...

... Arcee is just too small. ^^;

The eternal truth of having unresolvable difference between characters in show and their merchandises is proven again. ^^;

A look at Cliffjumper's transformation design in the next posting. ^^
