Garo Kiwami Damashii Kiba Part 1

False alarm

The theme of small-sized collectible that has been running on this blog since mid November last month with the assembly of BB Senshi Sangokuden Kochu Gundam is continuing with this new review series. ^^

Prior to this review, the last time the Kiwami Damashii series was featured on this blog was in December last year, with S.I.C. Kiwami Damashii Kamen Rider Hibiki. That hiatus is even longer with the Garo series in specific, which has to be traced back to Zero in February 2013. ^^; Having just five releases in its entire series (up to this point that is. You never know if Tamashii Nations would suddenly announce the revival of the Garo Kiwami Damashii series with ten new releases next week XD), with three of them already reviewed on this blog thus far, I'm about to close out a whole chapter of review series it seems. ^^ After Kiba, Gouten would be the last figure to be covered. ^^ Then again, I still have a few other figures from the Garo series, and more from the Kamen Rider section of the Kiwami Damashii line, so while Tamashii Nations has decided to push the product line they belong to into a hibernation state, I'm keeping the little guys' series alive with my blog. XD

The Dark Knight Kiba is the main protagonist of the TV series of Garo. Instead of using black as the typical color scheme to project his villainous characteristic, dark purple on iron is used as the main color of Kiba's armor, coupled with gold for its horns, and minor ornaments. That unorthodox color scheme works better than black on Kiba in my opinion, because with black as a color that absorb other colors, it's going to be difficult for the armor's details to be seen. ^^; Besides helping with the details' display, dark purple gives Kiba's armor a unique ancient look that is very different as compared to the shiny metallic sets worn by Garo, and Zero. Plus, Kiba is already evil-looking enough, with or without having black as its main color. XD

Front view of the package.

The figure's left leg came detached inside the package, which gave me quite a scare when I first received it. ^^;

Kiba's title, and personal emblem on the front label.

Kiba's creepy helmet design occupies the entire left hand section of the package's front section.

Closer look at the figure and accessories through the front window.

Side views of the package.

No much to see on the package's sides and bottom. ^^;

Simple introduction of the figure on the back of the package.

Comparison with Garo's package.
From the front, it's obvious that the same design template was used for the two figure.

However, from the side, Kiba's thicker box volume is immediately noticeable. ^^

Comparison with Dan's package yields the same observation. ^^

As a matter of fact, Dan's package is revealed to be the thinnest out of the three. ^^

Just for fun, the content tray section of Kiba's package is revealed to be of the same height as a Pocky chocolate stick box. How about that? XD

Three boxes of Pocky are needed to beat Kiba's package volume. XD

Package open.

The paper "holder", and a separate tray that contains the figure.

The detached left leg is snapped onto its hip joint, and the figure is just as good as new. ^^
I initially suspected the joint to be a loose one, causing the leg to fall off during the transportation stage, but it turns out to be not the case at all. ^^ Instead of speculating the reasons behind this unique occurrence, I'm just glad everything turns out fine in the end. ^^

Package content.

The figure, and its option parts are so well secured on top the tray that none of them move one bit even in an upside-down position. ^^

Closeups on the details.

Rear view of the package content.

Closeups on the details.

The package content is actually stored on two trays, with parts for the halberd, Ankokuzan (暗黒斬) placed on the bottom tray.

A simple hard paper cutout as the package's backdrop.

The flattened right side of the box label doesn't reveal more details on the current illustration than how it was initially presented before the box is opened. ^^;

The instruction sheet is stored inside the backdrop, between the cards.

Closeup on the very simple-looking backdrop.

The instruction sheet shows the package content, and how to equip the sword, Kokuenken (黒炎剣), and the halberd, Ankokuzan (暗黒斬) to Kiba's hands.

A smaller separate tray is placed between the figure's cape and his back to keep everything in place inside the package.

Straight out of box Garo Kiwami Damashii Kiba.

A few thin string to removed when getting Kiba off the plastic tray.

A look at the Kiba' accessories, and option parts, as well as the figure's articulation design in the next posting. ^^
