HG 1/144 Build Strike Gundam Full Package Part 2

Blue parts blues

Starting to work on HG 1/144 Build Strike Gundam Full Package after the introduction in the previous posting.

As usual, a look at all the parts to be painted and the colors they need first:

[Build Strike Gundam]

The minor details in the slits on the shoulder armors should be painted yellow, while the interior of the latter should be in gray.

Small sections and areas on the ankle guards, forearm and shoulder armor parts to be painted gray.
The tip area of the forearm fins needs to be painted blue.

Ankle joint sections and sole thrusters on the two foot parts to be painted gray.

The interior of the thrusters on the backpack is to be painted red.

The tip area of the side skirt armors needs to be painted red as well.

(Left) The rear skirt armor section that connects the part to the waist block needs to be painted gray.
(Right) Following the paint scheme for the backpack thrusters, the pair of smaller thrusters on the rear skirt armor are going to have their interior painted red as well.

[Build Booster]

Plenty of white paint needed for the main wings and rear fins.

White, gray and yellow paints are needed for various vents on the side blocks connecting the wings to the booster's body.

Black, red and gray are needed for the nose and backpack connector area of the booster's body.

Plenty of gray paint needed for the launcher's body.
The handles need to be painted as well, in red.

With so many different paints needed for its many parts, I wondered how different the whole model would look like after the paint work is finished. ^^

For that matter, I went and test fitted the Build Booster so that I can get the before/after comparison. ^^

[Weapons]

The barrel section and muzzle of the reinforced beam rifle is to be painted white.

The color is not shown in the instruction manual actually, but the designated color is shown in the anime, and appears correctly for the weapon's molded color for its Master Grade version.
Right image is from Hobby Search.

All three main shield parts need to be painted (white and gray).

The gray paint to be applied in between the parts would help to reveal its multiple layers better, giving the shield a much more solid look.

Starting the overall paint work on a few smaller parts:

Optional paint work: the "cockpit" area of Build Booster is painted using Gaia Metallic Color No. 020 Gun Metal.

The shoulder vent and Build Booster's body parts are painted yellow using Mr. Color GX 4 Chiara Yellow Gloss.

Various parts that need to be painted red are done so using Mr. Gundam Color UG04 MS Red Semi Gloss.

More painting and detailing work coming up in the next posting. ^^

I hand paint my model kits.

I only share my own experience with my model kits and don't do so-called tutorials - I have no qualifications in that area. ^^;
